Match the fitting to its job

Start with the surface or feature you want to illuminate. A path fitting, adjustable spotlight and recessed fitting solve different problems. Ask to see how the proposed fitting distributes light, rather than choosing from its appearance alone. A decorative fitting that looks attractive in daylight may create an uncomfortable bright source at night.

Compare the complete product specification

Look at dimensions, finish, mounting method, beam options, light colour, power requirements and the manufacturer's installation instructions. Confirm that the exact model is suitable for its intended outdoor location. A brand may offer several product families with different applications; a familiar name alone does not establish suitability.

Think beyond the initial purchase

Ask about replacement parts, product warranty terms and access for servicing. Consider what happens if planting grows around the fitting or a gardener needs to move it. Keep a record of model numbers so future repairs can identify compatible parts.

Build a shortlist around your property

For coastal sites, ask specifically about material and finish suitability. For paths, consider glare and views from nearby windows. For mature trees, discuss aiming flexibility. We can discuss products from Havit, Hunza, Aqualux, Azoogi, Just Bits and other ranges, subject to availability and the project requirements.

Questions to take to your quote

What does each fitting illuminate? Why is that model appropriate? What equipment is included? What maintenance is expected? Which warranty conditions apply? A useful proposal answers these questions before you commit to a product list.
